Michael Connolly, CEO of Sonobi, cofounded the company in 2012 to deliver his vision for the future of ad tech. Today, under his guidance, Sonobi is the leading technology provider of people-based marketing solutions, which enable media transactions against individuals in ways that are relevant, predictable, and measurable.
A serial entrepreneur, Michael has a strong background delivering innovative solutions for digital advertisers and publishers. In 2009, he and future Sonobi CTO Nathanial Thomas created Digital Tech Publishing, a software company specializing in online web applications. DTP was generating over 30 million unique visitors and 1.5 billion ad impressions per month before being acquired in 2012. This success has followed him to Sonobi, where the company has over 70 employees, servicing clients in North America, EMEA, and Australia.
Though ultimately product-driven, Michael nonetheless has extremely deep operational experience, and the rare ability to master details without ever losing site of the big picture. Not content to simply chart Sonobi’s path forward, he has a deep understanding of all aspects of Sonobi’s operational and technology systems, which has enabled him to create an overarching framework for his company that is forward thinking, innovative, fiscally responsible, and technologically sound.
Michael has spent many years learning to lead gracefully under pressure, and his leadership skills are battle-hardened. As an ARMY officer and military aviator, Michael served as a Battle Captain in the Army during the Iraq War. Michael was responsible both for his soldiers and millions of dollars worth of equipment, and as a UH 60 Helicopter pilot, he has flown multiple missions throughout central Iraq. These experiences, combined with his experience as an entrepreneur, have been instrumental in developing his leadership philosophy, which is rooted in integrity, accountability, and adaptability.
A 2016 finalist for Ernst and Young’s prestigious entrepreneur of the year, Michael has also been recognized as one of Florida’s most successful young executives under 40 by the Orlando Business Journal. While in service, he was awarded the Air Medal for Meritorious Service in Combat. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration and Philosophy from State University of New York at Albany.
As Chief Operating Officer of Sonobi, Justin is focused on developing and executing the strategic vision of the company, bringing the ideas and innovations of the executive team to reality.
With over 10 years of operational management experience, Justin identifies and develops key partnerships and manages the professional development and growth of Sonobi employees.
Prior to Sonobi, Justin was the Director of Yield Management for Digital Tech Publishing, where he was charged with maximizing the company’s revenue and financially posturing it for an acquisition. He accomplished these goals by managing over 30 advertiser client relationships, resulting in an increase in yearly revenue of over 300% across the same 1.5 billion monthly impressions.
Justin was a Captain in the United States Army and an AH-64D Apache helicopter pilot. A Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he held various leadership positions such as Attack Platoon leader, Maintenance Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Assistant Operations Officer. He was also selected from amongst his peers to serve as the Brigade Commander’s aide.
Justin attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he received a B.S. in Aerospace Studies and minored in Computer Science, Psychology, and Space Flight.
Technology and innovation have always been part of Nathaniel’s DNA since he first started changing colors on the screen of his Commodore VIC-20. before he could even drive, he was creating software ranging from Quest adventure games to a financial tracking system. After a system upgrade into middle and high school, he was building multi-user chat systems, networking voting and survey systems, and inventory management systems in PASCAL.
As Co-Founder and CTO, Nathaniel currently serves as the key architect and designer for Sonobi’s technology, driving innovation, high-standards, quality and efficiency across its engineering capabilities. Nathaniel initially built much of the original codebase from the API and Reporting systems to Sonobi’s own GO Ad Server and OpenRTB-capable Bidder before transitioning those projects over to dedicated teams.
Prior to Sonobi, Nathaniel served as the CTO of Digital Tech Publishing — an innovative software company which he co-founded with Sonobi’s CEO, Michael Connolly.
As an avid and enthusiastic traveler, Nathaniel has visited over 30 countries across all seven continents. He takes every chance he gets to travel and embark on exciting adventures.
As Sonobi’s Chief Revenue Officer, Vik is responsible for expanding the revenue team globally, developing go-to-market strategy, and driving adoption of Sonobi’s technology solutions throughout the digital ecosystem.
Vik brings decades of agency leadership experience, most recently as the Global Head of Business Development and Agency Partnerships at Oracle Marketing Cloud, where he created a global framework that strategically increased revenue 5X and booking growth rate over 200% YoY. Prior to Oracle, Vik served as the Global Chief Media Officer at Publicis’ Razorfish, where he led Razorfish’s 300+ media employees worldwide, drove the company’s digital media strategy – from its executive level partner relationships to its proprietary data solution infrastructure – and oversaw a client roster that included DHL, Starwood, HSN and Best Buy. Before joining Razorfish, Vik worked in several key roles, including the Global Head of Digital Investment and Corporate Strategy at MediaCom, SVP of Digital Media at OMD, and senior global marketing positions at Citigroup (New York) and PepsiCo (Singapore).
Known for bridging the gap between advertising, technology, digital media and capital, as well as having a global digital perspective and inherent passion for innovative technology, Vik is a sought-after speaker and is regularly quoted in leading publications, such as Advertising Age, CNN, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal.
He is the recipient of numerous awards including being named an “Agency Innovator” by Internationalist Magazine and one of Cynopsis’ “Most Intriguing People” in 2013.
Vik holds a B.B.A. from the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as a B.B.A. from Delhi University. He received international business credits at Harvard University, which went towards his M.B.A. from Clark University.
Specializing in product, media, technology and communications, John has over 16 years of experience building creative strategic solutions that drive marketers and brands through technology. Understanding how science can empower communication and drive business advantage is what he does.
John is the Chief Product Officer at Sonobi. He has spent his career working to bridge the gap between science and creativity, developing research, analytical, and media products that power advertising and marketing solutions.
John has worked in several key roles ranging from the CEO/Partner of White Lightning + The Judge’s Son, a specialist consultancy dedicated to helping brands grow, to the Chief Operating Officer at the Havas Specialist Agency Socialistic. He was a Global Director and change agent at Omnicom Media Group, helping design the offering that now is Annalect and Accuen.
John is an avid tattoo collector, hardcore metal and NY Mets fan.
Jenine is the Controller and Director of Human Resources at Sonobi. As Controller, she is focused on protecting the company’s assets, and helping guide financial decisions with the executive team by establishing and monitoring company policies and procedures adding value across the entire organization. As the company’s HR director, Jenine’s primary responsibilities include ensuring a safe and fair workplace for all employees, helping create an outstanding work environment, and spreading the company’s culture across all Sonobi locations.
Jenine has spent over 20 years in the accounting field, where she worked her way up from a Junior Accounting Assistant to Controller. She has worked with some of the most talented, intelligent people in the business, and has had the pleasure of leading many fantastic teams, with some of the brightest and hardest-working people in the profession.
A fitness enthusiast and certified personal trainer, Jenine enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and friends.
She holds a B.A. in Accounting from Florida Southern College and currently resides with her husband outside of Orlando (though she will always be a true native New Yorker at heart).
As Vice President of Supply at Sonobi, Matthew is responsible for both the acquisition efforts of new partners and the continued education of existing clients. As employee #9, he has constantly been at the forefront of introducing Sonobi’s product, JetStream, to the marketplace, and has been instrumental in the company’s partnership growth. His clients include Vox Media, CBS Interactive, Gannett, Time Inc., Zillow, and Weather Co.
With over 10 years of experience spanning finance, television and digital media, Matthew has gained in-depth knowledge across multiple mediums, engaging with clients of all sizes, including Fortune 100 companies and individuals alike.
Matthew attended University of South Florida, where he received his B.S. in Finance. When he is not hanging out with his friends, family, or dogs, Matthew can be found on the soccer field or on the road traveling.
Specializing in progressive, global media strategy, technology design, and consumer data enablement, Kelly has partnered with the world’s largest brands and publishers to deliver value across every touch point within the marketing landscape.
As Vice President of Product Marketing & Commercialization at Sonobi, Kelly focuses on ensuring that Sonobi’s products address the complex business needs of our publishers and brands as well as ensure customer and industry feedback informs future product development.
Prior to joining Sonobi, Kelly was the Director of Global Client Development at AMNET, where she focused on enabling programmatic solutions across General Motor’s global footprint, foster media innovation, and increase the brand’s market share.
Additionally, Kelly has held several leadership roles ranging within media, analytics, and product across the WPP, Publicis, Omnicom, and IPG agencies and trading desks. In these roles she designed strategic solutions for several Fortune 500 clients across the Automotive, Financial, Retail, CPG, Entertainment, Telecom and Technology verticals.
Kelly holds a Business degree focused on Marketing, Advertising & Communications from Wayne State University.
As the Director of Partnerships, Tom is responsible for the management and execution of Sonobi’s key strategic partnerships across both demand and technology companies.
Before joining Sonobi, Tom worked at Goldman Sachs as an Investment Advisor, where he managed portfolios for private and institutional clients while working closely with technology startups; helping them gain access to capital markets, financing, and advising them on potential large-scale transactions.
Tom served 10 years in the United States Army, retiring as a Captain in 2010. Over the course of his 10 years in the Army, Tom served in numerous leadership positions in both the Field Artillery and Signal Corps. A veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he served two combat tours in Iraq and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service. He is an active volunteer for numerous veteran non-profits.
A fitness enthusiast, Tom is a former amateur boxer with numerous bouts across the United States and Europe. He remains involved in the sport, helping support local amateur boxers pursue their dreams.
Tom attended Fordham University, where he received a B.A. in History, before obtaining his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law.
Enrique serves as the Executive Advisor to CEO Michael Connolly and the Sonobi executive team. An experienced leader with effective mentorship and leadership development skills, he facilitates new and ongoing company initiatives, including Sonobi’s Employee Bonus Program, Awards and Recognition Program, and Leadership Development/Mentorship Program.
Over the past 26 years, Enrique has held numerous executive advisor and senior positions while serving in the United States Navy. Through education and training, he helped strengthen the chain of command, providing sound decision support and creating open communication at all levels. Enrique also helped formulate and implement policies concerning morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline, and training of navy personnel.
His performance won him the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the 2013 and 2014 Mentor of the Year and the inaugural 2014 Oceanographer of the Navy Award.
Enrique remains involved in the Armed Services as an active volunteer for various projects and non-profits, earning him the esteemed Bronze, Silver and Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Born in Puerto Rico, Enrique is the oldest of 12 children. He graduated from the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, holds an A.S. in Meteorology from Excelsior College, and a B.A. in Natural Sciences and Mathematics from Thomas Edison State University.
As Sonobi’s Instructional Technologist, Elli is responsible for the on boarding and training of new employees, the development of informational materials (both internal and client-facing), as well as the development and modification of instructional programs for the company.
Prior to Sonobi, Elli was the Head of the Computer Vision Group and an associate research professor at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where she led research in 11 projects which resulted in 45 publications and four patents.
She also served as an assistant professor at Stevens Institute of Technology, where she assisted in the preparation of the ABET re-accreditation process of the Computer Science program, leading to full accreditation of the BS program.
A true analytical researcher, teacher, and advisor, Elli has participated in numerous cross-disciplinary, multi-institutional, and industry projects throughout her career.
Elli holds a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from The American College of Greece, an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from American University and The John Hopkins University respectively.
Originally from Athens, Greece, Elli is a travel enthusiast, having visited every inhabited continent and lived in Greece, Germany, and the US.
As Sonobi’s Managing Director EMEA, Gareth is leading the company’s European expansion with the launch of its London offering.
Prior to Sonobi, he led the European growth of PubMatic as employee #1, expanding the company from London into France, Germany, and the Nordics whilst driving exponential global revenue.
Gareth previously led all European buying for BlueLithium and subsequently Yahoo! UK (as it had acquired BlueLithium). He then launched B3, latterly The Mig and Xaxis, in Europe as employee #3.
During his 15+ year career, Gareth gained in-depth knowledge and experience focused on mobilizing data to communicate directly with consumers. He was at the forefront of Audience buying in 2006 and is a champion of this strategic approach, having personally executed the first real-time buy in Europe.
Gareth also spent 10 years in the military, the majority with the Special Forces in the New Zealand Army.
As Director of Sonobi’s Buyer Suite, Will is helping lead our sales strategy and acquisition efforts of new agency and brand partnerships throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Before joining Sonobi, Will served as the Director of Digital Development at Shortlist Media, the pioneer of the “freemium” publishing model. He helped launch the company’s digital products and managed a multi-award winning sales team that grew revenues eight fold over a six-year period.
During his 10+ year career, Will has gained in-depth knowledge and experience across multiple mediums, holding key positions at The Walt Disney Company, Channel 4, and Exterion Media.
Will attended Nottingham Trent University where he studied politics and international relations. He is an avid rugby fan, and lifelong supporter of his hometown team the Northampton Saints.
As Director of Agency Buyer Suite, Nick is helping spearhead Sonobi’s sales strategy in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Prior to Sonobi, Nick helped lead the European growth of Pubmatic’s demand sales strategy across EMEA, working with tier one brands and helping them navigate the programmatic and automated guaranteed landscape.
Nick has over a decade of experience within the industry, previously holding positions at Booking.com, Yahoo!, PubMatic and Switch Concepts. Through his passion for technology and breadth of experience, Nick has gained deep knowledge in search, display, mobile, video, native, programmatic and people-based marketing.
Outside of work, Nick is a huge Tottenham Hotspurs fan and avid tennis player. His one claim to fame is that he is a fully qualified Wimbledon line judge whereby he has called the lines for top-tier tennis players such as Mary Pearce, Xavier Malisse and Jari Kafelnikov to name a few.
As Sonobi’s Client Services Director, Christina leads all aspects of implementing Sonobi’s technology platform, JetStream, with media partners, fostering new and existing client relationships throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) that support overall company growth. Christina brings years of experience in the digital advertising industry, working for AOL and Microsoft across their Performance Network and Programmatic businesses in a number of Client Services roles.
Most recently, Christina served as an Account Director for Programmatic Demand at Oath (previously AOL), where she owned relationships with Agency Trading Desks who wished to utilize AOL’s Programmatic offerings via their preferred DSPs, generating revenue across AOL and Microsoft-owned and operated inventory, 3rd party premium publishers, and the open exchange.
Christina studied French and English Literature at King’s College London. In her free time, she enjoys playing the guitar and running half-marathons for various charities.
